Privacy Policy

The short version

My Spirit Animal is a free website. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no email list, no payments, and no advertising. The quiz runs in your browser, and your answers are not sent to or stored on our servers.

Information we do not collect

We do not ask for or store your name, email address, postal address, phone number, payment details, or account credentials. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

Your quiz answers

The quiz is calculated entirely in your browser. Your selected answers and the resulting animal are used only to display your result on the page. They are not submitted to a database and are not linked to you.

Analytics

We use three analytics services to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are useful. They load only after you choose Accept in the cookie banner. If you decline, none of them run.

• Plausible Analytics — a privacy-focused analytics service configured without cookies for this site. It produces aggregate page-view statistics and does not build a profile of individual visitors.
• pvuv — a third-party page-view and unique-visitor counting service. It may set a first-party cookie or store a random identifier in your browser so repeat visits are not counted as new visitors.
• Microsoft Clarity — a session-replay and heatmap service. It records how visitors click, scroll, and move through pages, together with a simplified snapshot of the page layout. Form fields on this site are masked, so the values you enter or select are not captured in those recordings.

These providers process request data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for advertising. Their own privacy policies apply to the data they handle.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the page footer. Blocking these scripts through your browser or an extension also works, and the site functions normally without them.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set advertising or marketing cookies. Before you accept, no analytics script runs.

After you accept, the analytics services described above may store cookies or local-storage entries. Plausible is cookieless; pvuv may store a random visitor identifier; Clarity uses cookies and local storage for session recording. Your consent choice itself is stored in a first-party cookie_consent cookie for up to 365 days, and your browser may also remember a theme preference. You can clear any of these from your browser at any time.

Server logs

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security and reliability, including IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and user agent. These logs are used to detect abuse and fix errors, and are retained only as long as the provider needs them.

Third-party links

The site links to external pages, including reference material and other websites. Once you leave My Spirit Animal, the privacy policy of that destination applies. We are not responsible for the practices of other sites.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal information about visitors, there is usually nothing to access, correct, export, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you have a question about this policy, contact us and we will respond.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with data-protection laws, you may have the right to object to processing, request access, or lodge a complaint with your local authority. Our lawful basis for the analytics described above is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the Cookie settings link.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled, we will update this page and change the date above. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than hidden in legal wording.
